Fundraise more with Nonprofit Crowdfunding

DonorPerfect’s debut into nonprofit crowdfunding was especially exciting due to its launch being marked by the stellar fundraising success of Chicago Coalition for the Homeless.

Associate Director of Development and Marketing Claire Sloss was an early adopter of DonorPerfect Crowdfunding. From managing the Coalition’s website and social media channels to donor database administration and communications, Claire looked to crowdfunding for a fun and easy way to energize their supporters to give and share their campaign on #GivingTuesday.

Here are the results of their first DonorPerfect Crowdfunding Campaign on #GivingTuesday 2017:

Because their campaign was such a hit, we asked Claire to share her take on nonprofit crowdfunding and her experience making it happen by using DonorPerfect.

3 Takeaways from Chicago Coalition’s Crowdfunding Success

1. Nonprofit crowdfunding is built for donor engagement.

Crowdfunding is a great way to rally your supporters around your cause by encouraging them to get their friends on board, too!

According to Claire, the important ingredients for a successful donor engagement initiative are:

  • EMOTION: Appeal to people’s generosity and desire to serve the community around them to make it a better place.
  • SIMPLICITY: DonorPerfect Crowdfunding makes it super easy for people to create individual fundraiser pages and donate online.
  • COMMUNITY: Leverage the “friend effect.” Opportunities to support causes through friends carry a lot of weight.

2. From #GivingTuesday to donor birthdays, nonprofit crowdfunding adds a social slant to giving any time of year.

Claire and Chicago Coalition for the Homeless aren’t slowing down. They’re already setting up their page for next fall’s marathon through Crowdfunding.

In addition to annual events, one of Claire’s board members had a great idea: using DonorPerfect Crowdfunding to set up a form for her birthday. Now, supporters of Chicago Coalition for the Homeless can quickly and easily create a DonorPerfect Crowdfunding form to set up a personal fundraising page for any reason.

3. Your nonprofit can raise more with DonorPerfect Crowdfunding.

Chicago Coalition for the Homeless used to use DonorPerfect’s DonorPages before switching to DonorPerfect Crowdfunding, the new peer-to-peer tool designed for easy set up and sharing.

Here are the 3 biggest benefits of DonorPerfect Crowdfunding

  • 1.Your data is just that – YOUR data.
DonorPerfect Crowdfunding pages instantly collect and reflect all donor data and gift information into your DonorPerfect system. This saves time, produces accurate fundraising reports, and most importantly, allows nonprofits to re-engage with people who donate to their crowdfunding campaigns.

Facebook’s peer-to-peer fundraising tool DOES NOT give non-profits donor data beyond first and last name, so organizations are unable to resolicit donors who give via Facebook.
  • 2. Page set up is really, really easy.
In comparison to DonorPages and on its own, there’s a lot less work for nonprofits on the administration end as well as their supporters on the individual fundraiser end.

Claire’s #GivingTuesday crowdfunding campaign for Chicago Coalition for the Homeless went off without a hitch. She didn’t have to field questions from supporters. They simply created pages and started sharing.
  • 3. Enable supporters to give with a goal in mind.
DonorPerfect Crowdfunding pages include a giving thermometer that allows organizations, individual fundraisers, and donors alike to track the progress of a fundraising campaign from beginning to end.

If you’d like to see the same success as Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, visit the DonorPerfect Crowdfunding page to learn more about all you can accomplish with a peer-to-peer fundraising tool that integrates with your donor management software.
